Maloye More (the Small Sea)
Maloye More (the Small Sea) is a unique area of Lake Baikal.
It includes 76 kilometers of cozy bays, sandy and pebble beaches, warm and clean water. Maloye More is located between the western shore of the lake and Olkhon Island, which is the largest island in Lake Baikal. Maloye More is connected through the Olkhon Gate strait to the lake. Maloye More has a complicated shoreline which creates a lot of shallow bays convenient for tourist rest sites and harbor of small vessels. Little precipitation, plenty of sunlight, warm bay water, beautiful mountain-taiga and forest landscapes, and also accessibility of the shores of Maloye More made it one of the most popular vacation spots.
In summer water in the shallow bays warms up to + 19 +21°С. Sakhyurta (MRS) Village connected to Irkutsk by bus service and to Olkhon Island by ferry crossing is located in the continental part of the strait. Pribaikalsky National Park is situated throughout the shores of Maloe More and their surrounding territories, including Olkhon Island.
The regime of National Park permits the package tour of the routes agreed to with the administration of the park. It also allows the rest in specially designed and equipped places – tourist camps.
